Instant Red Chile... That you can add to nearly anything!!!!

Updated: Jul 30, 2021

Red Chile is often times a staple in New Mexican households. You certainly can get creative and make the homemade version of it without the added salt and flour, however here is a quick and easy recipe that can be done in minutes. Giving you that Red Chile that can be used in so many ways.... without the longer process of making it fresh and having the excess clean up in the kitchen!

Instant Red Chile Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 - 14 oz container - Frozen Red Chile (Bueno Brand or another local brand - pay attention to sodium content)

1/2 cup white onion finely minced

3-4 fresh garlic cloves finely minced

1 tsp - cumin

***Adding a salt substitute "No Salt" is a good option to add to this recipe during the cooking stage of your chile

Combine onion and fresh garlic in frying pan and cook with spray oil. Once you have the frozen container of Red Chile thawed add that to the pan. Add water if necessary until you get the desired consistency of the sauce you prefer. Remember we are not going to add any flour to thicken this up, so start out with minimal water at first.

We are challenging everyone to respond to this post and share with us how you have used the Red Chile and incorporated it into your meal plan. Just because this is healthy version does not mean you can eat bowls of it. It is a sauce so use it accordingly and stick to the serving size listed on the container. The sodium content is going to vary from brand to brand - make the healthier choice on the lower sodium brands that are available.
