It is believed bell peppers are either male or female and this has to do with their bottom lobes. Females are said to have four lobes and males three. The truth is this is a myth! Bell peppers produce flowers having both male and female parts, however they are not specifically identified as male or female.
If a bell pepper has four lobes they tend to be sweeter and have more seeds, opposed to the ones with three lobes that are not as sweet and more on the bitter side. Although there are several different colors of bell peppers to choose from - the order of sweetness goes from Red, Orange and Yellow (same level) and Green being more on the bitter side.
Bell Peppers are great to incorporate with your meal planning. Whether you cook them as your vegetable, put raw veggies on your salad or just cut them up and eat them raw on the go there are great health benefits associated with them.
Please see this article that will review all of the health benefits they have.
