TRY THESE OPTIONS TO HELP KEEP YOU ON TRACK!!!!

Helpful Travel Tips!!!!

Just because you are traveling doesn’t mean you can’t make healthier choices or it gives you free rein to completely fall off your meal plan. We can only hope we have taught you how your body responds to the things we can control in our eating.

  • Sodium

  • Sugar

  • Processed Foods

  • Alcohol

  • Food Preparation (to include sauces, oils and butter)

We have compiled some items that are easy for travel. You can get these items as a grab and go or prepare these options in advance to be more disciplined and successful. These are great for travel, time in the airport, on a car ride or camping. Also these items do not require any refrigeration - which is another bonus! We hope these alternatives give you some ideas and hope they will help keep you on track:

  • One Bar or Quest Bar (be sure to keep one on hand, they are great for a snack or a meal replacement option)

  • Fruit - Apple, Orange or Grapefruit - half of a grapefruit (they travel well and are a great snack option)

  • Rice Cakes - another easy option (you can always purchase peanut butter or almond butter packets that are pre-measured in a tablespoon serving that can be added to this snack)

  • PBJ Sandwich or Wrap - Two slices of approved bread or a carb chopper tortilla, one tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter and a tablespoon of sugar free jelly (this is great meal replacement or snack option)

***I like to toast my bread with a little spray butter to keep the sandwich crispy

Keep in mind - you are going to thank yourself in the end if you have some discipline while on vacation or travel. This process is not easy, and if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Think about how far you have come - is the excess weight gain you have worked so hard to lose worth it. We want to educate you on what a healthier lifestyle is and teach you -YES it can be sustainable. Make a compromise with yourself, do not go back to your old ways. Moderation and self control is another added part to this lifestyle change, balance and moderation in your splurging is key! You just need a little to satisfy your cravings. And let's be honest - your stomach is not going to be happy because we fuel our body in a much healthier way.
